Kangaroo Island is Australia’s third largest island after Tasmania and Melville Island, and is situated 13 .5km from the South Australian mainland. The Island has a resident population of 4,417.

Kangaroo Island is renowend for its honey. The Ligurian bees on Kangaroo Island are believed to be the last remaining pure stock of this bee found anywhere in the world and the Island exports the pure-bred queen bees.
