When is Lake Eyre in flood?

Very rarely. It is believed to have reached capacity on only three occasions in the past 160 years, and as of May 2025 is once again in flood.

I'm staying at Wilpena Pound - do you have flights over Lake Eyre from here?

Yes we do. Our flights page contains all our regular flights from Wilpena Pound, and you are also welcome to charter your own flight.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, we recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred time and date, especially during weekends and holidays.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes. For safety and aircraft balance, individual passenger weight may be required at booking. Weight limits vary by aircraft - please contact us for specific guidelines.

Are flights suitable for children or seniors?

Absolutely! All ages are welcome. Children under 3 may sit on a parent’s lap (depending on aircraft). Please advise us of any mobility concerns when booking.

What happens in bad weather?

Safety is our top priority. If the weather isn’t suitable for flying, we’ll reschedule your flight or offer a full refund.

What should I bring or wear?

Comfortable clothing, sunglasses, and a camera! Headsets are provided for clear audio commentary. Layers are advised as cabin temperatures can vary.

Can I take photos or videos during the flight?

Yes! Our windows are perfect for photography. Don’t forget to bring your camera or smartphone - you'll want to capture these unforgettable views.

Is motion sickness an issue?

Most passengers feel comfortable, but if you’re prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking precautions before your flight.

How can I find out what flights are available?

I'm travelling by myself and it won't let me book online, can I still make a booking?

While we need a minimum of 2 passengers for any flight to go ahead, we will have plenty of seats available for a solo traveller. Call us today on 08 8670 7962 to check the latest in our availability.

If we turn up and want to make a booking when we arrive in William Creek will we be able to get a flight?

More than likely, however, we may have limited availability and only be able to offer flights where we have spare seats available. If it doesn’t matter what flight you do and when and at what cost booking on arrival may suit you, however if you have a preferred flight, time and have a budget then booking ahead is essential.

What is your cancellation policy?

We have a 48-hour cancellation policy, therefore you will need to give 48-hour notice or more to receive a refund. See link below to our Terms and Conditions page:

What happens if the roads close and we can’t get to William Creek and miss our flight?

If roads close within that 48-hour notice window so that you are unable to give us 48 hours’ notice, you will still be eligible for a refund. We know when road restrictions occur and anticipate it affecting many travellers’ ability to get to William Creek, so we understand that it’s out of your control.
