When is Lake Eyre in flood?

Very rarely. It is believed to have reached capacity on only three occasions in the past 160 years, and as of May 2025 is once again in flood.

I'm staying at Wilpena Pound - do you have flights over Lake Eyre from here?

Yes we do. Our flights page contains all our regular flights from Wilpena Pound, and you are also welcome to charter your own flight.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, we recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred time and date, especially during weekends and holidays.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes. For safety and aircraft balance, individual passenger weight may be required at booking. Weight limits vary by aircraft - please contact us for specific guidelines.

Are flights suitable for children or seniors?

Absolutely! All ages are welcome. Children under 3 may sit on a parent’s lap (depending on aircraft). Please advise us of any mobility concerns when booking.

What happens in bad weather?

Safety is our top priority. If the weather isn’t suitable for flying, we’ll reschedule your flight or offer a full refund.

What should I bring or wear?

Comfortable clothing, sunglasses, and a camera! Headsets are provided for clear audio commentary. Layers are advised as cabin temperatures can vary.

Can I take photos or videos during the flight?

Yes! Our windows are perfect for photography. Don’t forget to bring your camera or smartphone - you'll want to capture these unforgettable views.

Is motion sickness an issue?

Most passengers feel comfortable, but if you’re prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking precautions before your flight.
