It has been a long time coming ... About a month ago we purchased a beautiful plane - a Kodiak 100 Series II
and we are finally going to get our Bear in the Air.
Kodiaks are bears that reside on the rugged remote islands in the Kodiak archipelago just off the southwest
of mainland Alaska. They are the largest bear in the world with a male bear being over 3m/10 feet tall when
on their hind legs and about half that size when on all fours and weigh in at 1500 pounds. If you check out the
gifs on the internet, they can pull some pretty cool moves.
Our Kodiak 100 can pull some cool moves too. It is powered by a PT6A-34 which embodies its rugged spirit
with a short takeoff and landing distance that will make it ideal for any outback airstrip. Just like the bears,
the aircraft is designed to be tough and ready for anything that the wilderness offers. Seating 10 - 9
passengers and the pilot, in comfort with single window seats for all. It even has some USB ports - so you will
never miss a photo due a flat battery again.
The only catch is - the Kodiak is in Germany and we have been working hard to get it ready for its ferry flight to
Australia.
That hard work has now come to fruition. It has been a team effort, across 3 continents and a huge thank you
to everyone who has helped to date, you were all incredible and we are very grateful.
Finally we are now ready to get the Bear in the Air and bring her to her new home. The journey is going to be
super exciting and we will share it with you when we can as we go.
